The Hep B Project traveled to San Leandro today and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish for another opportunity to outreach to new areas in Alameda County. Our Lady of Good Counsel hosted a summit informing parishioners how best to prepare themselves in case of an emergency. The Hep B Project was there, offering more information about to prepare themselves for Hepatitis B and how to get screened and vaccinated!
Another week means even more vaccinations for the Hep B Project! This week we made three more patients, one step closer to being Hep B free!
The Hep B Project traveled to Oakland's Laurel United Methodist Church today for another on-site screening. Today's event provided the unique chance to reach out to a specifically Pacific Islander population. Although, Pacific Islanders are one of the Project's target populations, they only make up a fraction of its total patients. Today proved an important step towards changing that.
Additionally, the event was attended my Kelly Banh, 2010-2011 Miss California National US. Kelly advocates across the state not only for Hepatitis B, but also for community disaster education and first aid with the American Red Cross.
Below are a few pictures from the event. Thank you again, to Kelly, Ying, Kathy, and all the volunteers that made this event possible. Over 20 were registered for our on-site screenings!

As Berkeley students go back to school, the Hep B Project welcomes back all of its volunteers that were left during the summer! Today, the project held a large orientation for over 40 of its volunteers to refresh their knowledge about Hepatitis B and the ways we help the community. Below are a few pictures of our awesome volunteers as they interact with one another, practice their outreaching skills, and get excited for another year working towards eliminating Hepatitis B from Alameda County.
