![]() On Saturday, The Hep B Project partnered with Hayward Health to participate in a health fair the organization held at the Hayward Day Labor center. We were able to provide on-site screening to the patients that came, making the process for prevention against hepatitis B easier. A total of six volunteers went to the very busy event, and at the end of the fair, The Hep B Project screened a total of 22 patients with the help of our phlebotomist. The event was a success and we hope to partner with Hayward Health in the future! ![]() This weekend The Hep B Project was invited to table at Laney College's Youth Health Fair, sponsored by Assemblyman Swanson. About 500 people were expected to attend and though we did not encounter a large population of APIs, volunteers were able to network with many organizations at the event. In fact, about 4-5 representatives from different organizations came to our table and asked us to present at their workshops. Additionally, we were able to meet some members of Volunteer Health Interpreters Organization as they were helping out Alameda County Hep B Free who shared a table with us. Overall, this was a very unexpectedly successful event. "This event was a lot of new experiences for me," said volunteer Jin Yang. "Trying to build connections for promoting The Hep B Project was one thing, but the health fair itself made me realize that there are so many people trying to raise awareness for a number of different health issues." ![]() On Sunday, February 13, The Hep B Project participated in a health fair at St. Anthony's Church in Oakland. We are currently in the process of transitioning from our graduating Leadership Committee members to our new ones. New Clinic Coordinators Eric Chen and Myo Wong say the transition has been going smoothly. "Eric and I really appreciate the support and guidance from the previous clinic coords, Johnny and Michelle," said Myo. "They've done a wonderful job standardizing the clinical procedures the past year, and we look forward to carrying that on and adding more to improve the clinical operations this year." ![]() This week we had 12 screens and 11 vaccinations! Thanks to all of our volunteers to help make this happen. "Wednesday was such a busy day!" said clinic coordinator Johnny Phan. "Because of our hard efforts at outreaching, so many people came to clinic to get screened. Many were from word of mouth from organizations we've worked in the past, and others were referrals from friends and families. Our outreach coordinators Jonathan, Josh, and Kirstie have done a great job!" |
